About

Welcome to Nicaragua’s ‘Mercado Village,’ a hipster resort for American tourists looking to have an “authentic experience” in a foreign land. Alan was supposed to be coming here with his wife for a rejuvenating vacation, a last-ditch effort to save their failing marriage. But when she flakes, he’s joined instead by his clueless brother-in-law Mike. As the two settle in, they meet Barbara, an American ex-pat who co-founded Mercado Village years earlier as a utopian haven for artists and free spirits. During this excursion, Alan inadvertently finds out that his wife’s been having an affair. Like clockwork, he becomes infatuated with Barbara, and begins to see her as the catchall solution to all of life’s problems waiting for him back home.
